The event which hosted dignitaries far and wide had also in
attendance the management of the Tinubu Advocacy Group - TAG '23, as they were
ably represented by the Group's Director General, Boluwatife Ayeni, and the
Media and Publicity Director, Tunde Oyedele gracing the occasion on behalf of
the Queen Mother who also doubles as the Matron of the group, was an avenue to
brief the press on issues relating to the coming February 25 Presidential
elections.
At the briefing after the installation, she thanked God for
the award conferred on her by the Jamuhiyat Salat Niyass Society of Nigeria –
JAMSAN, and also spoke at length urging Nigerian women and youths to be united
and work for their political growth. She pointed out that women and youths have
played prominent roles in national development and nation-building, so, they
should not undermine their importance in national growth. In her words, "Politics
is not do-or-die, there should be three Ministries that for senior citizens,
minister of state, and minister of youths (that is, for agriculture, finance,
sports, housing, and works, etc. Let us start educating our youths right now,
why I am actively involved in politics because I am fighting for women and
young loved ones. Everybody knows me very well that I love women and youths.”
On the type of leadership best needed for the nation, she
replied in her words, “Nigerians should wake up. Politics would not be
interesting if there are no opponents, there must be obedient, Atikulate,
Jagabanist, Kwankwaso, and other movements and that is what makes it
interesting. Politics is not a do-or-die affair because after the election we
are all coming back as one. I love Nigeria and Nigerians should please take
religion away from their everyday activities. In America, China, and even in Ghana
they do not talk about religion, so why is Nigeria now saying, Christian Muslim,
Muslim Muslim, please let’s stay focused and support the person that can
deliver, we talking of experience is the best teacher, please let’s learn from
the masters. Asiwaju has been on this thing, we fought for democracy, oh my
God! we suffered o, and most of us lost everything we ever own. But the
politics of today, I am begging everybody, religion one, tribe one, we have to
come together and God helps all of us".
