Tinubu Advocacy Group - TAG '23 Expresses Concern Over Northern Caucus Plot Against President Tinubu

Date: July 4, 2024

The Tinubu Advocacy Group - TAG '23 wishes to express its firm support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu in light of recent reports suggesting that a faction of Northern politicians is conspiring to unseat him in the 2027 presidential election.

Recent statements from the Federal Government, articulated by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammed Matawalle, have highlighted that no political maneuvering will succeed in destabilizing the Tinubu administration. We echo this sentiment and stand united against any attempts to undermine the current administration's efforts and achievements.

It has come to our attention that notable Northern political figures, including Abubakar Atiku and Nasir El-Rufai, have been making visits to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State. These visits are speculated to be part of a broader strategy to challenge President Tinubu’s position. Minister Matawalle has rightly questioned the motives behind these actions, especially considering the substantial benefits the Northern region has received under President Tinubu's leadership.

Under President Tinubu, the North has witnessed unprecedented strategic appointments and infrastructural development. Key appointments held by Northerners include:
- Bello Muhammed Matawalle - Minister of State for Defence
- Mohammed Badaru Abubakar - Minister of Defence
- Muhammed Idris - Minister of Information and National Orientation
- Ali Pate - Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare
- Abubakar Kyari - Minister of Agriculture and Food Security
- Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim - Minister of Youths
- Yusuf Tuggar - Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Atiku Bagudu - Minister of Budget and Economic Planning
- Joseph Utsve - Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation
- Shuaibu Audu - Minister of Steel Development
- Sabi Abdullahi - Minister of State, Agriculture
- Zephaniah Jisalo - Minister of Special Duties
- Tahir Maman SAN - Minister of Education
- Yusuf Sununu - Minister of State Education
- Ibrahim Geidam - Minister of Police Affairs
- Hon Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim - Minister of State Police Affairs
- Bello Goronto - Minister of State Water Resources
- Ahmed Dangiwa - Minister of Housing and Urban Development
- Abdullahi Gwarzo - Minister of State Housing and Urban Development

Additionally, Northern leaders hold significant positions such as the National Security Adviser, Director-General of DSS, Director-General of NIA, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Group Managing Director of NNPCL, and MD of Nigerian Ports Authority, among others.

The Tinubu Advocacy Group - TAG '23 condemns any effort by a minority of Northern politicians to disrupt the stability and progress of the nation for their personal gain. Such actions are seen as unpatriotic and do not reflect the collective will of the Northern populace who have greatly benefited from President Tinubu's policies and governance.

We urge all Nigerians to remain vigilant and supportive of the Tinubu administration as it continues to work towards the betterment of the entire nation. No amount of political gang up or blackmail will deter President Tinubu from his commitment to serving the people and leading Nigeria towards a prosperous future.
