Residents Hail Akingboye Over Quick Intervention On Abandoned Truck in Ondo

The residents of Oba-Akoko in Ondo State on Saturday hailed Otunba Bamidele Akingboye over his timely intervention for the evacuation of a long-damaged truck along owo/Akoko road. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the state had on Sunday June 14th, 2019 called the attention of relevant agencies and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to the ugly presence of a truck which has since caused several accidents and fear on residents of the area. He included a 7-day ultimatum given to relevant agencies and Governor Akeredolu for the removal. According to correspondence, Idowu Ayenuro, a residents of Oba-Akoko, applauded the tenacity and swift response of the gubernatorial aspirant over what he described as " proving leadership and sustaining its importance" where other well-meaning Nigerians are expected to emulate the good gesture to saving lives of innocent people and road users. He maintained that it was unsafe for residents to continually have the truck present at the spot, which served as hideout for suspected criminals and armed bandits. Also speaking on the development was a farmer, Kehinde Iwaloye, who showered encomium on Akingboye for his heart of gold and demonstration of love towards the people of the state. Iwaloye added that only a man with distinct leadership qualities could be so concerned about the people's safety, while describing Akingboye as an architect of modern Ondo State. "I must appreciate the timely intervention and manner in which he (Otunba Akingboye) addressed this menace by calling the attention of relevant agencies and the state governor to dangers associated with the presence of the damaged truck. "On daily basis, our people are being confronted by armed bandits who forcefully comes into towns to steal valuable materials. Some of the damaged trucks along this road inhabit them, and it is worrisome. "For Akingboye to have taken this step after several attempts by residents is a signal to a meaningful but laced with purposeful leadership," he said. Mrs. Tomola Ebun, a market women in her response, said she believes a man who could volunteer to prioritize the safety of the people would do well to make Ondo State peaceful if elected as governor. She stated further that Ondo state has found in Akingboye a man whose interest in ameliorating the suffering of the people is not in doubt . Responding to this development, the Press Secretary to Otunba Akingboye, Oyeniyi Iwakun, said it was a selfless service to the people of Oba-Akoko towards securing their lives against unforeseen circumstances. He disclosed that Akingboye's aim was to secure a peaceful environment for residents to live without fear and pressure. Iwakun said the damaged truck was obstructing free flow of movement and constituting stress to road users, hence the immediate call for it removal. Speaking further, he said it was an indication that Akingboye was not only sensitive to the plight and welfare of the people but also passionate about ameliorating their challenges and suffering. He said "Ondo State people and road users must not be exposed to risk of any form. We are passionate about the people and nothing will stop us from continue to protect their lives and properties."
