ADC and the pathway to political victory - 'Kunle "Perse" Adepitan.

If a man sees a snake and a woman kills it, the important thing is not who killed the snake but that the reptile is dead.
The penchant of Nigerian political actors for "cross-carpetting", mergers or outright break away from their political parties are legion. Some politicians are still firmly stuck in the concrete mix of ethnic, clanish and personal advantages derivable from power. Such politicians have their definition of justice which excludes equity and fairness. The political roulette in the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) and of late, the All Progressives Congress ( APC) which has fragmented the two parties into nPDP and rAPC is far from salutary given its attendant negative implications in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections. As long as there are dissenting views and opinions in any political system, there is going to be clash of interests amongst political actors. However, the swamp of rebellion and treachery can't be drained in one fell swoop. But it is important to continue draining it if we must build a cohesive political party that would stand the test of time like those in advanced democracies. Historically, swamps are drained to reduce or eliminate mosquitoes which thrive under such conditions. Administratively, in party politics, we probably have more than our fair share of self-created swamps and that is why the mosquitoes of treachery, hate and brazen deceit are spreading fevers of division in our ranks.

As Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) makes his official expression on his political ambition known to the party chiefs and Executives at the African Democratic Congress party Secretariat today Friday, 6 July, 2018, it behoves that he "walks the talk" by playing to the rules of the party constitution. There have been instances where he affirmed unequivocally that he would do just that and allow the party to have its supremacy. But more importantly is his sincerity of purpose to the ADC party faithfuls to deliver on his manifesto when he eventually becomes the Flag bearer of the party and Governor of Ogun State in 2019. A lot of political lessons would be learnt from his first four years in office which would no doubt have snowball effect on other political actors and political narratives. Sterling performances in office would be the maxipan for promoting the ideals of the ADC in future.

Whoever will break new grounds as pioneer Governor of ADC must not be heavily reliant on Yoruba Leaders to succeed in office while at the same time he cannot do without them! For most of those claiming to be Yoruba Leaders were not either elected, appointed or selected but self appointed Leaders! Even young folks who have never been useful to their villages are parading themselves in the media as Yoruba Leaders. Ex governors who have no record of good performance in office, are referred to as Yoruba Leaders. Tell me, is there no difference between being elderly and being a Leader of the people politically, because the matter in focus is purely political? This is without prejudice to the fact that some of them we know are passionate and altruistic in matters that affects Ogun State and the nation in general.

The African Democratic Congress must work out a perfect  political recipe to dam the tide of frustrations, lack, unemployment, disease, low self esteem amongst Ogun State people etc in order to reinvent a new political order that would endure for a long time.
Our people are known to be complacent on topical socio-economic and political issues that affects them. The "suffering and smiling" virus have eaten deeply into their vitals to the extent that they no longer see any untoward thing about poverty. They see poverty as normal and unavoidable occurrence even at the point in time when they experience starvation, lack of good health care, unemployment and homelessness as a result of the actions and inactions of a few, greedy, visionless and self-centred political class. Shouldn't there be time to be angry and curious? Isn't that time now? Isn't it scary that our people seem to be enjoying sufferings and afflictions?
But then, action is beyond mere complaints or rants on the social and print media. Our people must consciously and intentionally reject their political paymasters who have made them "guinea pigs" for their political experiments. They must wake up from their political state of inertia to realise that inasmuch as it is normal for dogs to bark and for birds to chirp, it is also normal for the people to resort to  "devil's alternative" in order to settle political scores with their political  (mis)leaders.
