This was described as one killing too many from the Fulani herdsmen as this can result into anarchy. Also, they emphasized on how this sudden development of killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen had deeply destroyed lives and properties of members of the Yoruba nation so they made a declaration of this stance to stop! According to them, constituted authorities are expected to be alive to their responsibilities and discharge them to preserve our nation from anarchy. The content of the release is stated as follows; "It was saddening to the ears on receiving the news on the death of Mrs Olufunke Olakunri, daughter to one of our respected Fathers, Pa Reuben Ayo Fasoranti, the leader of Afenifere by extension Yoruba leader. We would like to express our condolences to you and your family. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to hold forever in your hearts. Indeed we are very sad at this ugly development and also deeply angered and frustrated at the sudden development of our nation descending into anarchy, this at all cannot be excused. The death of Olufunke is a one killing too many that represents a new scourge, invasion of our lands by suspected Fulani criminals, now commonly referred to as Fulani herdsmen who have wantonly killed, raped and destroyed across Yorubaland and it has now gotten to a stage that the Yoruba nation must rise and declare a stance that this must stop! Meanwhile, these ugly developments is seen through an entirely new vista, which dictates that we must begin to develop security models and strategies that will guarantee the arrest of this evil trend and defend ourselves as a community henceforth from further attacks. As progressive minds, ours is to cherish the peace and tranquility that had hitherto reigned in our Kingdom, even also in our State and nation and constituted authorities are expected to be alive to their responsibilities as enshrined in the Constitution, proper discharge of these responsibilities is the only safeguard against anarchy in our nation. Also, lawlessness possesses the capability to make us put in place strategies to preserve self. Finally we once again condole the Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s family, the bereaved husband and children of the deceased, as our prayer is that her gentle soul will rest in peace".
