The dynamic approach of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA)'s to pursuing his governorship ambition has taken a new shape as so many barriers gets broken on daily basis.
Basically, this is as a result of his belief in practical approach to governance that is interlaced with keeping close touch with people equipped with the technical know-how on how an ailing society can be healed, hence his resolve to consult Ondo state Indigenes and Nigerians in diaspora and other development-oriented people.
For the past two weeks, Akingboye had been shuttling between South Africa and Mauritius, meeting with different reputable individuals, groups and influential organizations with the requisite potentials, skills, capabilities and wherewithal to turn things around in Ondo state if he emerges as governor in 2020.
These consultees in diaspora are patriotic Ondo state indigenes, Nigerians, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders, and long term business partners who have traceable stories of breakthrough and successes in their various fields of endeavour.
The idea is to market the human and natural endowment cum investment potentials in Ondo state to the world in order to attract development to it.
Impressively, Akingboye's efforts had not been futile as majority of those consulted have not only thrown their weights behind him but also promised to either replicate or move their businesses to Ondo state if he emerges as the governor.
To further consolidate their allegiance, one of the major events was a special Dinner and Cocktail party organized in honour of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in South Africa on Friday, 29th June, 2019 at the Cyprus Club.
The dinner which had in attendance a large number of supporters, well wishers, Ondo state indigenes, Nigerians, PDP stakeholders including: the PDP Chairman, South Africa Chapter, Hon Ekos Jude Akpokabayen; Deputy Chairman, PDP SA South West Leader, Prince Debo Adesina of Al-Amin Consults; Secretary, Dr Emeka Ugwu ; Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Hon. Sam Iweka; BoT Members, HRM Igwilo and Arch. Olufemi Ajetunmobi and Miss Globe South Africa, provided a platform for OBA to convincingly present his manifestos to the people.
In his presentation, Akingboye made emphasis on the need for them to return home and partner in his ongoing transformation agenda even as he expressed his profound gratitude for their shower of love and hospitality.
He said "I am greatly overwhelmed by your outpour of love tonight. This will of course spur me to push harder. I see how much trust you have reposed in me and I promise never to disappoint you."
Also addressing the gathering, was the Chairman PDP-SA, Hon. Akpokabayen, who appreciated the guests for gracing the event, commended Akingboye for his valiance and steadfastness in championing a "just" cause to revamp his state.
In his closing remark, the PDP-SA BoT Chairman, Hon Sam Iweka, acknowledged Akingboye's brilliance and benevolence and reassured him of their resolve to stand by him till victory is attained.
Featured at the event also was "Award and presentation of Endorsement Certificate" to Otunba Akingboye by the organizers and other interest groups.
The successes recorded in the adventure so far may not have been possible if a liberal and more holistic approach like diaspora consultation hadn't been employed alongside the conventional methods of domestic campaigns popularly adopted in Nigeria; With the evolution of technology, everyone gets to be interested and passionate about the development of his country irrespective of the location, especially when it has to do with choosing a new leader.
Akingboye not unmindful of the need to intensify efforts on grassroots mobilization is disposed to consulting and incorporating all and sundry for meaningful development and genuine transformation in Ondo state. The more reason his agenda centres on transformation of Ondo state from a civil service state to an economically upright and commercial viable hub.
